The Music video!

For the Easter holiday we got an extra homework thing, it was to either do a flash mob with the dances we'd learnt in the dance day, or make a music video.
As I live too far away from everyone who is doing the flash mob i decided to do the music video.

I already knew the song What is love by Exo so i thought it would be fun. It was very stressing because i had no idea what to do! I just wrote what is love in different ways and took photos of them, as i was putting it together i literally restarted it like five times...sigh. anyway I made it! it's not amazing but I hope you enjoy it anyway. I do plan on doing another one one day, with more time hehe.

Week seven homework

This week the homework changed on Thursday so I only had two days. I decided to do Homework no. 3 which was Make a book cover for a Korean book.

I have so far only read two books by Korean authors.
They were both very good but my favorite was the one I decided to make a new cover for, and that book is...Please look after mother by Shin Kyung Sook!
Here is the original cover (The one I know and read):

The story is mostly set in Second Person which gives it a dreamy atmosphere, but it also changes characters (which seems to be popular in Korean books as the other one did the same) and I can't really remember if it stayed in Second person the whole way.
The basic plot line is a mother (her children are already grown up so more of an ajumma haha) who (I think she starts to forget things a bit...) goes to Seoul with her husband to see her children and on the subway he(her husband) looses her. It then follows her children as they try to find her.
There is a pit in the book where "You" or her daughter does to hand out fliers but people mostly just walk past, there was a lot of feeling in that part and so I thought it would be a good image to illustrate the book. I drew a woman handing fliers out, and then I thought i could print out people and make a sort of collage; it didn't exactly work so as I was thinking of what to do next I remembered another part where the mother/old lay herself is sitting in a crowed and the people just walk past, That was what I tried to portray with my book cover.

I'm still not sure which one I like more, but lets say blue what about you?

Week Six Homework

our Homework this week was basically to make a Origami Hanbok and other origami things. We all got a sheet of instructions, Here is my first attempt:

I figured that One, the skirt was too short, and two, that The top was too big so I made more and slowly found the faults and improved it.
Here is the final product:

 I gave the cut out face the traditional (well something like it) braided hair I've seen in dramas and a hair pin like the one we got to try on hanbok day.

Then there are also the Ttak ji:

They where quite easy and fun to make.
If you have origami paper then method two is the best but if you have normal paper than method one is best. I did some different sizes:

Tried playing the game as well but it's really hard!!! one tip if you try plying it is make the cross face down. I'll keep trying, but, so far I've only been able to flip one once! TT^TT

I made A video of how to make the paper hanbok, the one i'm making in the video is the on in the second picture ( you'll recognize it).

Week Three of the K-pop academy

I'm doing this in the wrong order but... here we go.
Week three was the Hanbok day! I'm going to keep this short so, basically we got a lecture on the Hanbok by Professor Lee Jung Taek which was very interesting and then he asked if some one would help him show hoe to tie this knot that's on the over coat. I said i'd do it and because of that when he said only 15 of us could try the hanbok on I felt like it wasn't right for me to take that away from someone else. so me and two others didn't get to try it one with everyone else (we felt quite left out...sigh).
Everyone who got to try one on, did a catwalk (sort of thing) and as I wasn't in one I filmed it instead here is the video:

It was filmed on my phone so excuse the funny screen shape and turn at the end.
Had lots of fun even if I only got to try the Hanbok on at the end!

Week five Homework

This week assignment is to choose one of the following.

-Watch Korean historical film or drama and summarize it in 1 minute.
(make video, take photo, drawing, writing)
-Research a Korean historical event or issue and Present your opinion on this topic.
-Draw the Korean Peninsula and make your own Korean information map.

I chose to do the last option: Draw the Korean peninsula and make your own Korean information map.

When I was the option I immediately thought of the Busan Film festival, But then i didn't know what else to put on it so, I decided to do festivals. After that I had to research about the subject because apart from the Busan film festival and the Boryeong mud festival I didn't know any. I found quite a few festivals but then decided that to make it all fit and look nice I should do only one for each county. So festivals like the Muju Firefly festival in Jeollabuk-do and other had to be left out... Next was that some of the county's didn't seem to have any! like ChungChongBuk-Do for example I could only find one (Later I also found a grape festival but...) But the actual festival in question didn't have much info on it on the internet so I'm not 100% sure if it's still doing or not.... 

Anyhow I had fun drawing, researching, cutting, sticking and everything else and I really learnt a lot from doing it too! Hope you like it and my be learn about the different festivals in South Korea from it.

Week four homework

For this weeks homework I did: 2. Make your own fusion Korean Food.

My fusion dish was, Cheese and green onion Hotteok!

I followed this recipe: www.maangchi.com/recipe/hoddeok.

Then I changed the filling to grated cheddar cheese, green onions and seasoning.

They where seriously yummy too! I brought them in to the living room when they where done and my family ate them so quickly I nearly didn't get any myself!! I wish i could give you guys some samples.... anyway they where super yummy!!   

Week Three Homework

I chose option 1 from our homework this week which was: Compare the traditional clothes of Korea, China and Japan.

There is so much I could talk about on this topic! I mean really there is soooooo much to talk about and I literally have no time! TT^TT if only so i did a drawing of each outfit and I'll give more details in this post.

so firstly there are two different traditional Chinese clothes. The Qipao and the Hanfu.

The Qipao is what most people think is the traditional dress from china. But this particular dress only started to be worn in the 1920's so I don't really  think that it really counts, i mean we don't think that this:

is our traditional dress do we?  
Anyhow, for now I'm going to discard the Qipao and concentrate on the Hanfu.

The Hanfu seems to come from about 1600. wiki sais 'The hanfu is now worn during some festivals or coming of age/rite of passage ceremonies, by hobbyists or historical re-enactors, by Taoist, Confucian or Buddhist monks and priests during religious ceremonies, or as a cultural exercise. It is often seen in Chinese television serials, films and other forms of media entertainment. There is also a movement in China and some overseas Chinese communities to revive Han Chinese clothing in daily life and incorporate it into Chinese festivals or celebrations.' 

The hanfu is a loose dress with loose upper garment with open lapels. 


The Japanese Traditional dress is the Kimono.

The kimono Changes with the seasons. In spring the patterns are usually of flowers like sakura in summer they would most likely wear a yukata which is a lighter vertion in automn leafy patterns in winter the kimono would have more layers and in darker colours.
The original Komono has to be taken apart to be washed and then resewn together.




The Korean traditional dress is the Hanbok.

The Hanbok is made from the Jeogori or jacket and Chima or skirt so basically two parts which is the most apparent difference between them.
